The GSTC Latin America Regional Meeting was held in Quito, Ecuador prior to the start of the Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference (ESTC15). The meeting was structured in part like a workshop, presentations and round-table discussions center around sustainable tourism standards, destination management, industry best practices, GSTC-led programs, with a focus on how sustainable tourism concepts apply to the Latin America region and globally.  Networking with travel and tourism industry professionals: GSTC Members & Staff, Travel & Tour Operators, NGOs, Destination Managers, Government Representatives.

What: This GSTC regional meeting in Quito, Ecuador was a call to action to come learn about, exchange, and engage in sustainable tourism developments in Latin America and globally.  Participants took home a foundational list of tools, contacts, and references to improve sustainability at your business, destination, and institution.  View and download the event summary.

Who: Randy Durband represented the GSTC, other speakers included Luigi Cabrini, GSTC Chair of Board of Directors, Dr. Kelly Bricker (GSTC Vice-Chair of the Board), Jorge Moller (GSTC Board Member and Regional Representative, Chile & Argentina), Dr. D’Arcy Dornan (GSTC Brazil Country Representative), Natalia Naranjo (GSTC Regional Representative, Ecuador & Colombia) and Kathleen Pessolano, GSTC Associate Technical Director.
