The Global Sustainable Tourism Council was awarded the presigious «Premio Gorila» Award for 2014 by Loro Parque.  The GSTC received the award for its environmental responsibility as the most important contributor to the proper management of the environment sustaining ecotourism and being socially sustainable.  Loro Parque noted in particular the addition of GSTC’s Sustainable Training Program and working groups including its knowledge, education and training network.

In his acceptance of the award, Luigi Cabrini expressed his gratitude for the recognition that GSTC is having a positive impact in spreading sustainability practices around the world.  «GSTC is engaged in making tourism part of the solution to the great challenges of our era, including climate change.»

The «Premio Gorila» award considers strategies and actions to conserve biodiversity, to promote sustainable use of resources, and to improve the livelihoods of local communities.  The prize is represented with a bronze sculpture of a gorilla, exemplifying loyalty, strength, fidelity and good social awareness.
