The Rainforest Alliance is helping people to change their land-use practices, setting standards for the long-term sustainable use of resources so that we can conserve the planet’s great wealth of biodiversity and help people use the resources they need without compromising them for future generations. By reducing the deleterious impacts of forestry, agriculture and tourism — especially in ecologically critical regions — and improving the lives and livelihoods of people living and working in these areas, the Rainforest Alliance is setting new standards. With more than 35,000 members, over 20 years experience and projects active in more than 75 countries, we are recognized as a world leader in the successful design and implementation of conservation measures and methods that will sustain our Earth’s people and places for decades to come.
Red Rocks Rwanda
As a social enterprise, we’re all about the community, the wildlife, tourism & travel. Our pioneering cultural tourism scheme involves developing our community and promoting our nature preserve through tourism. Red Rocks brings under-served communities into the tourism supply chain and supports community development projects that help people help themselves through our initiatives (http://redrocksinitiative.org/). Through our works we have launched many projects, which are helping local community get access to education, health care and sustainable income that honors their traditional way of life. Ours is to provide a sustained, reliable source of funding for the local organization through the tourism industry. We created a respectful environment where the local community feels comfortable with tourists and work to position conservation as a competitive land use that delivers benefits to local communities, creates jobs, stimulates local micro-enterprise development.

Sichuan Garze Tourism Development Committee
Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, (甘孜藏族自治州), also known as Ganzi, is located in western Sichuan Province, China. It is set amongst the scenic high alpine mountains of the province and it is historically part of the Tibetan region of Kham(ba) making the area interesting for both culture and landscape.
The area is characterized by long mountain ridges, with river valleys running between them. In the lower areas (roughly speaking, below 3000 meters), the landscape consists of lush forest, while the upper reaches (roughly above 5000 meters) are comprised of rocky peaks. Most of the region, which sits in between these elevations, consists of alpine grasslands.
Permanent settlement has taken place mostly in the valleys, especially the river valleys, where one sees numerous villages and towns consisting of traditional stone houses in a style that is endemic to the region.
