RHG made significant advancements in its sustainability initiatives in 2023, driven by the ambitious targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Among the highlights are:

  • A 35% reduction in carbon emissions per square meter since 2019.
  • The validation of net zero science-based targets, reinforcing alignment with the Paris Agreement goals.
  • A 30% reduction in energy usage intensity compared to 2019, alongside efforts to source renewable energy and implement green building designs.
  • Expanding water-saving technologies across properties, resulting in a 5% reduction in the water footprint per occupied room since 2022.

These achievements reflect RHG’s commitment to environmental stewardship, integrated across its operations, supply chain, and guest experiences.

Sustainable Certification

The Hotel Sustainability Basics verification supports hotels with the first step on delivering sustainable stays, aligned with the Group’s vision and commitment to operate in a more sustainable manner. This is the starting point of the pathway, which can be followed by a third-party eco-label.

As part of RHG’s pathway to net-positive hospitality, hotels are encouraged to advance their sustainability pathway with a robust and structured sustainability plan of action and gain a recognized third-party verification or certification for their sustainability efforts. RHG continues to partner with global ecolabels such as Green Key, Earth Check, and Green Tourism, all recognized by the GSTC, which audit its hotels’ sustainability performance, underscoring RHG’s commitment to adhering to the GSTC Criteria, the global standards for sustainability in travel and tourism.

Think Planet, Think Community, Think Social

RHG takes a holistic approach to sustainability, focusing on Think Planet, Think Community, Think Social as core pillars of its 5-Year Strategic Plan.

Think Planet reflects RHG’s commitment to reducing environmental impacts through science-based near-term emission reduction goals, renewable energy initiatives, and eliminating single-use plastics.

Think Community emphasizes creating shared value by supporting vulnerable groups, providing access to food, shelter, and clean water, and partnering with organizations like SOS Children’s Villages and Just a Drop to improve lives.

Think Social highlights RHG’s focus on ethical practices, diversity, inclusion, and fostering employment opportunities while supporting human rights across its operations and supply chain. This integrated approach ensures RHG not only mitigates climate change but also empowers people and builds stronger, more resilient communities worldwide.
