GSTC Sustainable Tourism Refresher Class (May 26-27) and Training (May 30 – June 2, 2022) for DASTA

The GSTC delivered a 2-day refresher class and 3-day in-person training for Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA) at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Bangkok, Thailand. The training was led by Dr. Mihee Kang, GSTC Director for Asia-Pacific, as the lead trainer. Randy Durband, GSTC CEO, contributed to the class as a co-trainer and presenter.

The 2-day refresher class had a total of 10 participants, 9 DASTA staff including Deputy Director General (Dr.Chuwit Mitrchob) and Professor Panate Manomaivibool who completed the training in 2018. This class focused on the newer version of the GSTC Destination Criteria (GSTC-D).

The 3-day in-person training took place from May 30th to June 2nd. There were a total of 24 participants, including 21 DASTA staff from all nine DASTA offices of designated areas and headquarters. Deputy Director-General Dr.Chumpol Musiganont also attended. There were three DASTA project consultants who shared their knowledge during the training.
Professor Panate Manomaivibool and Mr.Pornpol Noithammaraj took the role of interpreters who helped the Lead Trainer deliver the contents with their great understanding of the GSTC and the GSTC Criteria. Three additional guest speakers from Six Senses, EXO Travel, and ECPAT shared how the GSTC Criteria apply to their field of practice.
