Updates on the GSTC Attraction Criteria Development: Feasibility Assessment now openThe Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) announced last year the development of new criteria sets, GSTC MICE Criteria, which has already been published last February and is available for the public, and GSTC Attraction Criteria, which is currently under development, with support from the Singapore Tourism Board STB.

The initiative to formulate the GSTC Attraction Criteria began on September 1, 2023, after an intensive three-month phase of preparation that involved outlining the Terms of Reference (TOR) and assembling a Technical Team. Concurrently, the Attraction Criteria Development Advisory Group* and Key Stakeholder Group** were established, and we successfully launched the First Public Consultation on the 15th of January which latest 60 days.

We are now extending an invitation to all stakeholders in the industry to engage in the Feasibility Assessment of the GSTC Attraction Criteria. This assessment period is currently open and will continue until June 7, 2024. We strongly encourage organizations involved with attractions, including museums, amusement parks, and nature parks, to thoroughly examine the Draft Criteria. This review should focus on evaluating the relevance, measurability, and comprehensibility of each criterion and indicator. Your participation is crucial in ensuring that the criteria are both effective and applicable across diverse settings.

This process offers a unique and significant opportunity to influence a project that promises to drive meaningful change within our industry. Your insights and expertise can help shape the standard that will define quality and sustainability in tourist attractions globally.

If you are keen to contribute to the shaping of the GSTC Attraction Criteria, please contact the GSTC Secretariat at criteria@gstcouncil.org for further information on how you can make a significant and valuable contribution to this pivotal project. Your involvement is not only welcomed but essential in achieving our collective goals.
