Hotelbeds Environmental, Social and Governance 2022 ReportHotelbeds new ESG Strategy aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 and adheres to recommendations from UN Tourism for tourism companies to contribute to the 2030 SDGs.

In 2020 Hotelbeds joined the GSTC and launched the Green Hotel Program in order to promote sustainable travel choices.

Green Hotel Program 

The Green Hotels Programme is designed to identify, provide enhanced visibility, and promote sustainable accommodation certified in compliance with GSTC standards or other similar sustainability standards.

During 2022 Hotelbeds moved from +20.000 properties to 37.918 included in their Green Hotels Programme. All of them hold a certification compliant with GSTC Criteria or have developed sustainability programs with equal or higher sustainability standards.

Sustainable milestones

Human Resources Director, Elena Pérez, took the stage at the latest Global Sustainable Tourism Conference in Seville. During the event, held in Spain in December 2022, Elena talked about the important role of big data in anticipating customer needs and making sustainability a key element in management decision-making, as well as the need to work together in the ESG world.

In 2022, the Plastic Free Hotels initiative was introduced, a commitment to eliminating plastic waste that led to active employee volunteerism.

The Hotelbeds’ Forest, launched in October, surpassed the goal of planting 10,000 trees within 12 months, contributing to carbon emission mitigation and environmental impact.

Beyond environmental initiatives, a focus on employee well-being included enhanced flexible working options, a global 30-day remote work opportunity, and diverse learning and development opportunities.
