Logo EBRDGSTC Mediterranean Region Director, Dr. Ioannis Pappas participated in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Webinars series as a keynote speaker with the session: “Hospitality for the resilient future: Adapting to Climate Challenges and Seizing Opportunities in Tourism” the 5th of December 2023, dedicated to SME’s; that was part of the series titled “Driving the green transition: How SMEs can navigate climate challenges and grow sustainably”. 

The webinar aimed to encourage SME owners to consider the impacts of climate change on their businesses and empower them to take action and drive towards a more sustainable and resilient future.

Along with Dr. Pappas, other colleagues participated in the series, such as Ahmed Yehia Founder & CEO of  Eco Nubia Ecolodge (Part of Eco Group), Koray Goytan Team Leader at EBRD Green Economy Financing Facility, and Anula Galewska Sustainability consultant for tourism & hospitality of Travindy Foundation, among others.

Insights on the risks of climate change for SMEs were shared by industry experts throughout the webinar series, outlining actionable steps and showcasing the positive impact of integrating greener practices on the bottom line. 

SME representatives also provided firsthand accounts of how the integration of sustainable practices has influenced and positively impacted their business.
