Hotelbeds Markethub Asia - Roi Ariel

Roi Ariel, GSTC General Manager was present at Hotelbed’s Markethub Asia event, which was held from the 21st to the 24th of November 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand’s bustling capital known for its vibrant and energetic atmosphere. 

Hotelbed’s Markethub 2023 event took place under the theme of ‘Where Next?’. Industry influencers and key figures discussed several topics, from data and technology to the power of our people, with strong emphasis on the importance of sustainability.

Roi Ariel spoke along with industry colleagues, Sarah Wang Regional Director – Asia, WTTC and Antony Meguerdijian, Senior Vice President Sales – Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, Accor, in the interactive discussion “How can travel become a force of good?” moderated by Elena Perez, Global HR Director Hotelbeds Group.

Speaking about the collaboration between GSTC and WTTC, Roi emphasized that “providing clear compass for hotels beginning their sustainability journey, starting with the WTTC Hotel Sustainability Basics with the plan to improve and progress to comply with the full GSTC Criteria is very helpful to the industry. Providing clarity and a pathway is helping the hospitality industry – both online distribution channels and the hotels themselves.”

Roi also added that “Hotelbeds has been using the GSTC framework for a few years now to highlight sustainable hotels in their distribution channels. GSTC supports other online distribution platforms in this way”.

The event included keynotes and panels with experts from the travel industry, alongside culturally enriching experiences arranged by the hosts. The four-day program was supported by Amari Hotels & Resorts, with guests accommodated at their Watergate location in downtown Phetchaburi.
