|Notice on the GSTC STTP Certificate (March 30th, 2020)
This update is for those who have recently participated in the GSTC STTP Exam and are expecting to receive their certificates, and for those who will be taking the exam in the coming weeks.
Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, we have limited ability to process print orders and access mailing services (as well as uncertainties with the delivering and receiving options within different locations). For this reason, we are currently only issuing the certificates in the electronic format.
If you have already received your exam results (and have passed the exam) but have not yet received your certificate in the mail, please look out for an email from firstname.lastname@example.org with your electronic copy of the certificate.

About the STTP Exam and Certificate
One of the key benefits of participating in a GSTC training class is the opportunity to take the official GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training Program (STTP) Exam, and upon successful completion, receive a Certificate in Sustainable Tourism by the GSTC to demonstrate your knowledge of sustainable tourism standards and practices.

The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training Program (STTP) offers practical insights and expert guidance to assist tourism destinations and businesses implement effective steps and achieve tangible performance goals. The STTP uses the GSTC Criteria, the global baseline standards for sustainability in travel and tourism, as the training curriculum framework, and incorporates best practice presentations, business and destination case studies, and in-depth advice and consultation on how to implement sustainability practices for businesses and destinations.

The GSTC is a UN-endorsed independent organization playing a critical role as the leading global authority in providing guidance for the development and management of sustainability practices in travel and tourism. Based on the GSTC’s extensive knowledge base, the STTP offers both global and regional perspectives relevant to tourism industry stakeholders at various stages of sustainability adoption and development.
STTP Exam: Demonstrate Your Sustainable Tourism Knowledge
All training participants who complete a 3-day onsite STTP training class or a 4-week online STTP training class will have the opportunity to take the official STTP Exam, which is offered in an online and open-book format and available for one month following the date of training class completion.
The exam is designed to evaluate the training participant’s awareness and knowledge of the content covered by the STTP, and relevant examples and approaches to implementing sustainable tourism policies and practices within tourism industry businesses and destinations.
GSTC Certificate in Sustainable Tourism
Those who achieve a 75% pass mark on the STTP Exam will receive a GSTC Certificate in Sustainable Tourism.
This certificate is specific to the STTP, and is for individuals who have demonstrated the required level of knowledge. The certificate, therefore, may not be promoted in a way that associates the individual training participant’s achievement with their business or organization. The certificate is not equivalent to or in any way related to a business or a destination becoming certified by a GSTC-Accredited certifying body.
