State of Guanajuato Ministry of Tourism (gto), The current social and economic panorama, demands to generate more competitiveness in our State and our destinations, causing growth and to carry on actions that allow us to position ourselves as one of the favorite destinations in Mexico. Our mission is to lead and promote tourism in the State of Guanajuato with a steward, and strategic vision through planning, development and promotion for its positioning in national and international markets, to strengthen the competitiveness of tourism sector and its industry. One of the purposes of this institution is promote tourism as generator of wealth, employment and development opportunities to increase our people well-being. For this purpose, the Ministry of Tourism of Guanajuato created the Sustainable Tourism Model, a tool that allows us to include sustainable practices on destinations and tourism agencies, based on the criteria of GSTC, which allows us to minimize the negative impact of tourism on the three areas of sustainability. This Model, seeks to increase the competitiveness of Guanajuato as a touristic destination trough the optimization of resources.
