Raising the sustainability performance of their hotels is an important part of the TUI Sustainability Agenda. One way of measuring progress is through globally acknowledged sustainability certificates.

The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) establishes and manages global standards for sustainable travel and tourism, known as the GSTC Criteria.

In September 2023, TUI Hotels & Resorts Türkiye celebrated an important milestone as all of their hotels in Türkiye have been certified by GSTC-Accredited Certification Bodies according to the Türkiye’s Sustainable Tourism Program.

Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) with guidance from the GSTC, has developed the first mandatory national program for accommodations based on the GSTC Criteria and GSTC Assurance program. From 2022 through 2030, all accommodations in Türkiye must be certified through a GSTC-Accredited Certification Body.

Businesses certified by a GSTC-Accredited Certification Body, meeting all the GSTC Criteria (or a GSTC-Recognized Standard), have the highest level of assurance and credibility available. With an accredited certification, customers and buyers are assured that the business was certified in a credibly verified procedure in a transparent, impartial, and competent manner.

Obtaining the GSTC Certification for all TUI Hotels & Resorts in Türkiye, reflects TUI’s commitment to aligning the tourism industry with the GSTC Criteria.

*Note: We use the term “GSTC-Certified” as shorthand for “Certified by a Certification Body that is GSTC-Accredited”
