(October 12th, 2015) – In the beginning of September, TourCert launched the ideas competition FAIRWÄRTS. The competition focuses on ideas for sustainability and responsibility in tourism. This new competition fosters innovation in business in addition to helping advance sustainable tourism.

By submitting ideas or examples of best practices, tourism enterprises can show how global responsibility and fairness are integrated or are to be integrated into their companies. The winners will be selected by an independent jury and of course there will be attractive prizes, such as a CSR management consultancy by TourCert. A unique feature of the competition is how registered participants can gain knowledge free of charge, as along with the competition, information modules offered through the competition, impart additional know-how on the participants. Participation is open to all tourism enterprises in Germany.

TourCert, the non-profit certification company, awards the TourCert label for sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in tourism. The TourCert label is awarded in four different sectors including tour operators, travel agencies and accommodation providers. The TourCert list of criteria for tour operators is officially GSTC-Recognised by the GSTC Criteria for Tour Operators.

Applications may be submitted between October 1st, 2015 and December 31st, 2015. The competition is organised by Kate – Environment & Development in cooperation with TourCert. For additional information on the FAIRWÄRTS competition visit the TourCert website or view the informational video here.
