GSTC Academic Symposium

April 23, 2024, in Stockholm marks the return of the GSTC Academic Symposium, held in conjunction with the GSTC2024 Global Conference. This one-day in-person event serves as a platform for researchers and academics to convene and engage in discussions regarding pressing issues in sustainable tourism. The symposium will be held on Tuesday 23d April 2024, in conjunction with the GSTC2024 Global Conference. We are excited to host the second edition of the GSTC Academic Symposium, which coincides with the broader Global Sustainable Tourism Conference. The symposium is designed to provide researchers in sustainable tourism issues a forum to share their work and submissions dealing with sustainable tourism topics are welcome. We look forward to your participation and to creating a vibrant exchange of ideas at the GSTC Academic Symposium.

Call for Papers

We are excited to announce a call for papers for the second academic symposium in conjunction with Global sustainable Tourism Conference. The one-day symposium will be held on Tuesday April 23, 2024.

The symposium offers a platform for researchers focusing on sustainable tourism to exchange their findings. Submissions dealing with sustainable tourism topics are welcome, and we encourage papers on topics that apply the GSTC Framework or that showcase the presence of the GSTC Criteria within the curriculum of the academic institution.

Submissions of Empirical Papers, Conceptual Papers, and Case Studies are encouraged.

Themes that will be covered at the conference include:

  • Environment – Climate and Smart Management
  • Social – welcoming and inclusive
  • Governance – Thriving and Innovative
  • Credible Assurance – Indicators and Certifications

While authors are encouraged to submit abstracts addressing these themes, any submissions related to current issues in sustainable tourism research will be considered.

Researchers may submit abstracts for in-person presentations during the conference academic symposium.

Research Stand-Up Presentations. Researchers should submit extended abstracts (500 words maximum) to be considered for the conference. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed for acceptance into the program. Once accepted, authors will be invited to submit full papers (4000-6000 words). Full papers are not required for participation at the conference.
